Profession: Director of a cross-cultural and youth-education nonprofit organization in Nagarote, Nicaragua.
What is leadership? "Leadership is a process of influencing others so that they can achieve a common, positive goal."
Why is leadership training important? "Education is key for the development of a country. When one participates in leadership education, one is better prepared to face challenges. (Traditional) school education provides us with the knowledge to be good citizens and good professionals - but leadership education opens our eyes so that we can influence others, question our systems and structures and, as part of that process, take actions to become an active and positive members of our community."
How will you utilize your learning from the LTCP? "My position as Director of an organization that provides education opportunities for youth, allows me to develop and execute skills development training for our students. I think that part of the responsibility of being a leader is to reproduce the knowledge that you have - so other people can have opportunities. I want to create leadership opportunities for the young people I work with."
